Planning Commission
Myrtle Point Ordinance No. 1039 requires that the City of Myrtle Point appoint and maintain a seven member planning commission to promote and coordinate current and comprehensive long-range planning in the City. The Planning Commission serves in an advisory role to the City Council and makes decisions in the form of recommendations to the Council. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and serve four year terms.
Regular Planning Commission meetings are held, as needed, on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the meeting room of the Flora M. Laird Memorial Library 435 Fifth Street, Myrtle Point, Oregon 97458.

Budget Committee
The City of Myrtle Point Budget Committee meets annually to provide assistance and guidance to the City Manager and staff leading to the development, drafting and review of the City of Myrtle Point annual budget.
The committee consists of seven City residents appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. Each committee member serves a three-year term. Terms are staggered for continuity. Members receive no monetary compensation.

Municipal Budget
The City of Myrtle Point prepares and adopts a Budget annually in accordance with Oregon Local Budget Law. Preparation of the Budget begins in the spring of each year and the Budget is normally adopted at the first City Council meeting in June.
The City of Myrtle Point also contracts for the preparation of an Annual Financial Report by an independent auditing firm in accordance with State law.
